First a web page and now a blog too? You would think I take this book writing stuff seriously, wouldn't you? Welcome to The Deadlies Blog. I have no idea what I am going to talk about...except the Deadlies. As a lot of you know, I can talk about them all day.
With Definitely Deadly a few weeks away from release, I can turn my attention (however briefly) to the second book, Tall, Dark and Deadly. There are two minor characters that were dropped in the first book who have major parts in the second and now have to be written out and their parts given to existing characters. I have edited these books so many times, that they start to run together but perhaps that helps with the continuity of the books since the series is just one big story told by different characters.
It is very hard to switch from voice to voice. Since the stories are told in first person, each Deadly's personality has to come through which means my personality has to change with them. It is a little like having multiple personalities. I can tell them apart too. I will be typing along and stop in mid-sentence when I realize that this is not the way this character talks. It usually means that I have to delete an entire paragraph (sometimes it is a few chapters which is particularly painful) and have to start over.
Whoever said that writing was easy?
